Joerns WeCare® Full-Electric Home Care Bed — 8" Ultra-Low, Split-Frame, 8-Function Pendant, 450 lb, One-Person Delivery

Institutional-grade fall prevention. Home care convenience. One-person delivery. A 28" high position provides ergonomic caregiver access during bathing, dressing, wound care, and transfer tasks. The 8-function ergonomic hand pendant gives residents and caregivers intuitive control of head position, foot position, overall height, and AutoContour positioning. Optional CareWide accessory expands the sleep surface to 39" or 42" width for larger patients or greater repositioning comfort. 450 lb safe working load. IEC 60601-2-52 compliant. 7-year structural warranty. Authorized Joerns dealer.

Key Features

8.0" Ultra-Low Height — Industry-Leading Fall Prevention

The WeCare's 8.0" ultra-low height is the bed's central clinical differentiator. Most home care beds reach a low position of 10"–13" — still high enough that a fall from bed can result in serious injury. The WeCare's 8.0" low position brings the sleep surface closer to floor level than any comparable home care bed, so that if a patient does exit the bed unsafely or roll off, the fall distance — and therefore fall injury severity — is minimized. This is particularly important for patients with dementia, agitation, or a history of unsafe bed exits, where fall prevention through bed height management is a primary care strategy. The 28" high position then provides comfortable working height for caregivers during bathing, dressing, repositioning, and wound care.

Split-Frame Design — One-Person Delivery & Assembly

The WeCare's split-frame construction divides the bed into sections — each weighing 77 lbs or less — that can be delivered and carried into a home by a single person without specialized equipment, a second worker, or a loading dock. Each section is manageable through standard doorways, up stairs (with the optional dolly stair climber accessory), and through the typically narrow hallways and doorways of residential homes. Assembly requires no specialized tools. This split-frame deliverability is what makes the WeCare practical for home care environments where standard institutional bed delivery logistics are impossible.

8-Function Ergonomic Hand Pendant

The ergonomic hand pendant provides 8-function control — head section raise/lower, knee section raise/lower, full bed height raise/lower, and AutoContour positioning — with an integrated hook that keeps the pendant accessible to the patient without it falling to the floor. The pendant's ergonomic design is intended to be intuitive for residents who may have limited fine motor control or cognitive challenges. An optional staff control provides additional clinical functions including pendant function lockout (preventing residents from adjusting bed position unsafely) and Trendelenburg/Reverse Trendelenburg positioning for clinical needs.

AutoContour Positioning

AutoContour coordinates the three-section mattress support platform — head, seat, and knee/leg — to contour simultaneously to the patient's body rather than raising the head section in isolation. This reduces shear forces on the patient's skin as the head section rises, which is clinically important for skin integrity in patients at risk of pressure injuries. The therapeutic grid sleep deck surface complements this by providing a more supportive, comfortable base than flat metal platform designs.

Entrapment-Compliant Assist Device Mounting

The WeCare is designed to accept entrapment-compliant assist devices at both the head and foot positions — a safety requirement for beds used by patients with cognitive impairment or limited mobility who could become entrapped between a bed rail and the mattress. Multiple compatible assist device options are available including the F14 Assist Device, F025/F026/F028 Assist Handles, and F168 Assist Device (with N832AL mount). The bed is guaranteed to meet FDA bed entrapment guidelines with these devices properly installed.

Flexible Sizing — Width and Length Extensions

The optional CareWide accessory expands the sleep surface width from the standard 35" to 39" (Twin XL) or 42" — accommodating larger patients or providing additional repositioning space within the bed. An optional 4" length extension increases the bed length from 80" to 84" for taller patients. These sizing options allow a single WeCare bed frame to serve a wider range of patient body types without requiring a specialty bariatric frame.

18" Underbed Clearance — Patient Lift Compatible

The WeCare provides 18" of underbed clearance — sufficient for the base legs of standard Hoyer patient lifts (Advance, HPL450, HPL402, HML400, and others) to slide under the bed during transfers. This integration between the bed and the patient lift system is essential in home care environments where the same caregiver is using both devices for daily transfers.
