The WHILL Modo Breeze is WHILL's newest power wheelchair, launched July 2026 — a carbon fiber folding chair built for daily independence and effortless travel. At 28.6 lbs. without the battery and cushion (33.7 lbs. fully assembled), it sits among the lightest 300 lb-capacity folding power chairs on the market. The folded profile of 8.66 inches is narrower than any directly comparable carbon fiber folding power chair — narrower than the Forcemech G20's 10-inch fold, the Cricket LT's 12-inch fold, and both Jazzy Carbon models — making it the most compact option for car trunks, closets, cruise staterooms, and hotel rooms. The airline-approved lithium-ion battery detaches completely and travels as carry-on. LCD joystick features an integrated headlight and USB charging port, and is quick-disconnect for transport. A 2-inch contoured pincore seat cushion promotes air circulation for extended use. Front-wheel suspension and reinforced footrest. Two 180W brushless DC motors with electromagnetic braking. 5-year frame warranty, 2-year cushion warranty, 1-year mechanical and battery warranty. What Makes the Modo Breeze Different

  • 8.66" folded profile — narrowest of any comparable chair — at under 9 inches wide when folded, the Modo Breeze fits in car trunks with the most remaining space, stows in cruise cabins most compactly, and stands in the narrowest closet footprint of the five chairs in this comparison; for users where a specific trunk, closet, or storage space is the constraint, the Modo Breeze resolves it when other chairs don't
  • Integrated headlight — only chair in this group with one standard — the LCD joystick has a built-in headlight for low-light navigation in parking garages, hospital corridors, evening outings, and dimly lit venues; none of the other four chairs in this comparison include a headlight as standard equipment
  • Front-wheel suspension — alongside the Jazzy Carbon Li, the Modo Breeze and the Jazzy Carbon Li are the only chairs in this group with front suspension; the Modo Breeze's suspension absorbs threshold bumps, sidewalk cracks, and minor surface irregularities before they reach the seat — meaningful for full-day use on mixed indoor/outdoor surfaces in Southwest Florida
  • 2" pincore seat cushion — air circulation for Florida's climate — the pincore foam matrix creates airflow through the seat surface, reducing heat and moisture buildup during extended use; in Southwest Florida's year-round heat this is a practical daily comfort advantage
  • Airline-approved detachable battery — clean separation — the battery detaches as a fully separate unit; at 10Ah/240Wh it meets FAA watt-hour limits for cabin carry-on; the detachment is toolless and the interface reconnects cleanly at the destination
  • Brand new July 2026 — the Modo Breeze launched July 15, 2026; it is WHILL's newest product and represents their entry into the ultralight carbon fiber travel chair category

How to Choose Among the Five

Choose the Modo Breeze if the narrowest folded profile is your top priority, if you want a built-in headlight and front suspension standard, or if you're buying your first power wheelchair and want a well-specified chair without the complexity of advanced controllers or dual battery systems.

Choose the Forcemech G20 PRO if range matters most (12 miles vs. 9.5), if you want the 360° smart controller with voice guidance, or if you want the multi-color LED lighting system and dual battery option for extended travel days.

Choose the Golden Cricket LT if single-person vehicle loading is the priority — its side-fold stays on wheels, making it the easiest to tilt into a car trunk without a full dead lift.

Choose the Jazzy Carbon 27X if you need the lightest total assembled weight (~31 lbs.) and prefer the vertical X-frame fold; note its 275 lb capacity is lower than the others and its 8-mile range is the shortest in this group.

Choose the Jazzy Carbon Li if the tightest turning radius (24") is critical for navigating narrow indoor spaces, or if the lifetime limited frame warranty is important to you; note it is heavier than the others at 43.6 lbs. fully assembled.

FAQs

How does the Modo Breeze's weight compare to the other chairs when fully assembled?

The 28.6 lb frame-only number is WHILL's marketing specification — it's the weight without the battery (3.9 lbs.) and cushion (1.2 lbs.). Fully assembled, the Modo Breeze weighs 33.7 lbs. The Forcemech G20 PRO is lightest assembled at approximately 28 lbs. total. The Jazzy Carbon 27X comes in around 31 lbs. The Golden Cricket LT is approximately 32 lbs. The Jazzy Carbon Li is the heaviest at 43.6 lbs. fully assembled. When choosing between chairs primarily on total lifting weight, use the fully assembled numbers rather than the frame-only figures all manufacturers lead with.

Is the Modo Breeze appropriate for Southwest Florida's outdoor environment?

Yes — for paved surfaces: sidewalks, concrete, tile, asphalt parking lots, shopping centers, boardwalks, and paved community paths. The front-wheel suspension helps with minor surface variations. Not designed for sand, grass, gravel, or rough terrain — beach access in particular requires a beach wheelchair or all-terrain mobility device. Southwest Florida's typical daily environment of shopping centers, medical offices, restaurants, paved outdoor paths, and cruise terminals is well within the Modo Breeze's capability.

What is the airline travel process?

Detach the battery (toolless, separate unit), fold the chair, and check the chair frame as a mobility aid at the gate — airlines must accept wheelchairs at no charge under the Air Carrier Access Act. Carry the battery in the cabin as carry-on; it meets FAA watt-hour limits at 10Ah/240Wh. Notify the airline at check-in that you're traveling with a power wheelchair. The battery reconnects at the destination. Call us if you need battery documentation for your airline: 1-866-218-0902.
